Two step 12.47 kV Automatic Power Factor Correction Bank

Automatic power factor correction systems have, during the past 10 years, increased their presence in the large industrial and commercial consumer environment. The primary reason for this increase is the need to maintain voltage at acceptable levels due to the more sophisticated electronic devices in the electrical power distribution system. The common practice of placing large static blocks of capacitance at the customers primary voltage level does not offer this type of control. During low load periods the voltage may rise to unacceptable levels due to leading power factor. In addition many utilities cannot handle the additional VARS on their system and are requesting that customers remove their capacitors from operation during times when they are not required. The automatic systems address both of these issues.

STANDARD FEATURES:

  • Microprocessor based automatic control Control based on power factor, voltage, or current

  • Current limiting reactors for back-back switching

  • Individual [full line voltage rated] capacitor fusing

  • Vacuum switches for automatic switching

  • Industrial rated relays

  • Neutral unbalance protection on each individual stage

  • 4 pole ground switch with large viewing window and coordinated key interlock
